Prunus serotina (weed) Ehrh. - (black cherry)

The weed is native to eastern North America and has been grown in European parks and gardens. It has been also planted in some areas with poor, sandy soil to promote forest development.

P. serotina has become a serious invasive shrub/tree in many parts of Europe, replacing native flora. It forms dense stands of shrubs that block the light for other plants.
